turgill Funeral Home was established in 1954 when two brothers, F.M. and Ray Sturgill bought the Estes-Cecil Funeral Home.
They continued to work out of that location until 1959 when they moved in the new building which is our current location at 298 Harrell Street here in Pennington Gap, VA.
F.M. Sturgill passed away in 1979 and the business continued on with Ray Sturgill and his son John. In January of 1995 the Sturgill Funeral Home was purchased by Ben Mullins and Blake Wilson. Currently is operated by Ben Mullins. After 20 years of our ownership and our loyalty to the Sturgill family we will be adding Mullins-Sturgill Funeral Home.
The firm is operated by Ben and his wife Brenda. Other staff members include Clyde Scott and John Britton. They also oversee the management of the Powell Valley Cemetery and Powell Valley Monument Company.
